NETTING FABRICATION DETAILS

Gourock Custom Batting Cage Nets are 100% Made in USA from premium quality nylon netting material, Type 66 Twisted-Knotted Nylon.  Nylon Batting Cage Nets are constructed with a fully-enclosed netting design incorporating the top/ceiling, side walls, and end-panels all seamed together and ready to hang/install as a complete 3-dimensional netting product.  Featuring 1-3/4” mesh baseball netting, black in color with UV stabilization and protective bonding.  Gourock custom batting cage nets are well suited for all outdoor and indoor installations.  Using our powerful Custom Batting Cage Calculator allows for direct online ordering with the following available options:

DIMENSIONS:
Enter the dimensions for the overall batting cage net sizing, in the custom fields presented for Height x Width x Length.  

TWINE THICKNESS:
There are 3 nylon netting twine thicknesses available to select from:

• #21 (2.0mm, 210 lb. minimum tensile strength)
• #36 (2.5mm, 350 lb. minimum tensile strength)
• #72 (3.5mm, 665 lb. minimum tensile strength)

Nylon batting cage nets are rope-bordered on all 4 vertical corners and the entire top perimeter, with a center-ceiling rope running the length of the cage netting.  Nets are hand-prepared and bordered with 5/16” Braided Polyester Rope (2800+ lb./break).  3’ rope tails extend off the corners and ceiling lines.

BOTTOM EDGE FINISHING:
There are 3 ways that the bottom edge of the batting cage enclosure net can be supplied:

• No Bottom Border Material/Rope (if ordered as-is)
• 5/16” Rope Border Bottom Edge (optional)
• Weighted-Rope (Leadline) Bottom Edge (optional)

The standard cage construction has loose/excess meshes along the bottom in order to properly contain balls within the enclosure.  Adding a rope border to the bottom edge is great for a finished appearance and for extra material along the bottom.  The weighted-rope bottom ensures that the netting stays weighted to the ground, preventing any loose/hit balls from rolling underneath.

MESH PATTERN:
Standard batting cage net construction features Diamond Mesh Pattern netting.  You have the option of updating to Square Mesh Pattern netting construction if preferred.  Gourock type 66 twisted-knotted nylon netting is produced on looms that fabricate the product in a diamond mesh pattern. Converting to square pattern increases total production overhead, requiring a nominal pricing surcharge. We conveniently offer you both mesh pattern selections to specify for your custom batting cage net, accounting for preferences you may have for a particular mesh pattern, or to match existing netting you already have on-site. Regardless of mesh orientation there are no fundamental differences in strength, durability, or impact resistance between the selections.  Refer to our FAQ page for additional context about mesh pattern choices.

ENTRANCE DOORS:
Additionally, you can include a number of entrance doors into the custom netting design.  3' overlapping netting doors allow for efficient pass-through entrance/exit (without needing to lift the netting up). Balls remain contained as normal.  The online calculator conveniently provides you with 8 different door locations to specify on the cage net design (default option of no doors at all).  Refer to our Door Location Guide/Diagram below to view the available selections.

DIVIDER PANEL NETS (when applicable):
For extra-wide batting cage nets, you are offered the option to add rope bordered divider panel nets to the order.  These nets are constructed to the same height and length as the enclosure netting, and are included separately.  Divider nets allow you to divide the overall enclosure area into narrower individual tunnel areas as needed.

NOTES & SUGGESTIONS FOR CUSTOM NETS

• Consider having the net constructed 6”-12” taller in height compared to where you expect to hang it from, allowing for some netting to pool at ground level (helpful for keeping all balls contained).  General recommendation is to retain a buffer area between the netting and walls/structures of at least a couple feet minimum in most instances (individual results vary).

• Custom nylon batting cage nets are fabricated per-invoice and have varying production lead-times to be ready to ship out.  Most are finished and ready to depart within 10 bus. days, with some extra-large sizes or multiple quantity orders requiring longer production time (within 3-4 week avg. in most cases).
