For some context into some of the customized netting jobs that Gourock fabricates for various bird exclusion needs, the following recent examples demonstrate some of the more unique netting capabilities we offer for your consideration.
In this first recent job example we’re showing a custom design that was built for a garden netting location. Our customer has an arching framing structure that covers some planter boxes in their garden, and uses nylon netting as bird deterrent mesh. The material in this case is #15 X 3/4″ DuPont type 66 twisted-knotted nylon netting, produced into a very customized enclosure net design that lines-up with the framing. One end of the enclosure is completely closed off with mesh, while the other end incorporates an opening area in order to fit around their entrance gate/door. All edges and seaming of the final product were 5/16″ braided polyester rope bordered.
This is the second time Gourock has fabricated this custom bird netting enclosure for our client, as the first one was built in early 2019 and has been in use ever since. Our customer wanted to get a replacement net made and in-hand for when the functional life of the existing bird exclusion net has come to an end.
In this second recent custom netting example we’re showing an overhead cover net for a pond location. Most residential pond locations are completely unique in sizing and shape. As you can see in this pond net diagram, there are many specific shape and construction features incorporated into the final design in order for the net to perform as expected. In this case our client needed the bird exclusion netting to not only protect against predatory birds, but also to block leaves and general debris from getting into the water below.
In this case the preferred product selection was the 1/4″ Hex-Mesh Polyester Debris Fabric, which is a perfect choice for debris barrier and bird deterrent double-purposes. Our customer preferred the edges to be 1-1/2″ Polypropylene Webbing Bordered, and they had some specific locations that needed #2 Brass Grommets stamped to the webbing (lining up with attachment points).
And then in this third recent custom bird netting job you can see a personalized tapered shape for the cover net. The shape and sizing were designed to closely align with the contour of the fish pond area, in order to achieve the most functional protective barrier from predatory birds. The benefits of using a custom built netting panel include: effective protective coverage over the area of concern, enhanced durability over time due to proper fit, and great aesthetic and attractiveness when installed for longterm use.
For this pond bird exclusion netting project the material selection was the #18 X 1″ twisted-knotted tarred nylon, square mesh pattern, with 5/16″ polyester rope bordered perimeter edging. The #18 X 1″ DuPont® type 66 tarred nylon netting is a very long-lasting outdoor barrier net selection, as it is specifically prepared to be resistant to the effects of UV exposure and moisture. The 1″ square mesh size is attractive for multipurpose protective and deterrent needs.
