Recent Examples of Custom Containment Nets for a Variety of Barrier Netting Projects
To provide some additional helpful context on some of the more unique containment nets that we produce and ship out, here are three recent examples of speciality netting products intended for different protective needs. While many containment netting jobs are very well handled with rectangular-shaped netting panels, these following examples all demonstrate some very customized netting shapes, sizes, and features. In many cases our customers require nets that incorporate many unique product design features – such as these 3 examples:
In this example we are showing the shape and sizing of a very unique custom net that was produced and shipped out to one of Gourock’s commercial installation clients. Their intended purpose for the containment netting was to fill-in an area at a scholastic indoor sports training facility. The area in question was above a playing field space, and underneath the roofline of the building. They also had an existing beam that ran across the blind width that needed to be accounted for. The protective netting in this case was needed to contain and block all types of errant sports balls from passing through the area in question – ultimately protecting people, property, and structural elements from impact damage.
The twine and mesh used for this custom containment netting project was the #36 X 1-3/4″ DuPont® type 66 twisted-knotted nylon, square mesh pattern, with a 5/16″ Dacron® polyester rope bordered perimeter edge. You can see from the drawing that this custom shape is 13′-7″ X 55′ and constructed to a specialty tapered shape that accounts for all of the unique dimensional needs of the installation space. The 1-3/4″ mesh size is a fantastic selection for multi-sport ball blocking, and the #36 twisted nylon is a very robust and abrasion resistant twine choice. In many cases the #36 X 1-3/4″ nylon netting is the preferred product for training facilities, scholastic and municipal locations, and other similar athletic establishments that have a high volume of player traffic. This particular custom containment netting job was produced and shipped out within 2 weeks of the order being placed by our client.
Industrial Debris Containment Nets
These next three examples demonstrate some nets that are very unique in design. There are a few dimensional differences between the 3 netting designs, but they all share the same overall materials and features. Generally speaking, all of the finished nets in this round of production are about 20′ X 22′ in total area coverage, and were ordered by an industrial contractor for use over tanks at a wastewater treatment facility. Our customer required a containment net design that was to lay over the top of a tank area, and to fold down over the surrounding railings – ultimately encompassing the entire upper area with a layer of netting.
A robust debris netting choice of #21 X 3/4″ square mesh twisted-knotted nylon netting was used in this case. The preferences were to include reinforced edging and interior lines that were intended to line-up with locations of railings, pipes, and attachment points. The edging on these nets was a combination of 1-1/2″ webbing border with brass grommets, and 5/16″ braided polyester rope. Overall there were 4 custom containment nets built for this project which were completed and ready to ship out in about 3 weeks from order placement.
Baseball Stadium Backstop Netting
And then in this third custom netting example we are showing a pair of baseball field barrier nets produced for another commercial installation contractor client. In this job we produced the net that was to span the entire backstop area of the field – acting as the primary ball containment net behind the plate area. This was a 24′ X 85′ netting panel with a 5/16″ rope bordered perimeter edge, along with a pair of central reinforcement ropes running vertically through the net. Sizing and rope locations were specified by our customer and were needed to line-up with the cable/wire locations that the netting was being clipped to.
In addition to the overall larger backstop net, there was a uniquely shaped netting panel needed as well – to account for a gap between the stadium poles in one location. That entailed a 24′ X 6′ custom containment netting panel that included a tapered edge shape, built to line-up precisely with the area of coverage needed. The twine and mesh used for these baseball backstop nets was the #36 X 1-3/4″ DuPont® type 66 twisted-knotted nylon, square mesh pattern.
