Industrial Netting for Debris Exclusion
One of Gourock’s heavy industry clients requires barrier netting that covers over the tops of water treatment plant tanks. The reasons why protective nets are needed for these tanks is to prevent external debris from falling into them, to prevent birds from entering the tanks, and to provide a general level of barrier and exclusion features for overall site safety. These protection nets are highly customized to include a variety of design features required for proper netting function at their location. As you can see from the production diagram below, the overall shape of the barrier net is a cross-like design that allows for the netting cover the top open area of the water tank, and then also account for netting that folds downward to also cover the side railing zones that surround the perimeter of the tank. The outer perimeter of the netting is 1-1/2″ webbing bordered with #2 brass grommets stamped every 12″. Running within the net are 5/16″ polyester rope rib-lines that are included to line up with the tops of the surrounding railings (for the fold-over aspect). Heavy industry requires very strong and abrasion resistance netting materials for durability and dependability – so in this case the protective netting production is built from #21 X 3/4″ DuPont® type 66 twisted-knotted nylon – square mesh pattern. A net like this is generally fabricated and ready to ship out within 7-10 working days.
Custom Pond Netting, Bird Barrier Nets, and Leaf Exclusion Netting

Most pond netting needs are intended to block leaves and debris from entering the water, as well as to deter birds from the pond water area as well. The recent pond netting project shown in the 2 production diagrams below demonstrates a pair of very customized netting shapes, built to properly line up with our customers particular pond perimeter. As you can see, both of these nets have very unique tapers and angles, as well as custom dimensions. Each of these pond cover nets were built with 5/16″ polyester rope bordered perimeter edging – and one of the nets also incorporates a couple of rope-edged slits running into the interior of the mesh as well. These slits were built into the netting in order to account for a couple of trees that are in the central area of the pond – so there needed to be a way for the netting to cover the pond properly, and allow for the tree trunks to be worked around. After the personal correspondences, quotes, and work revisions with our customer – these pond cover protective nets were fabricated and shipped out within 2 working weeks.
Koi Pond Protective Netting
And then in this third recent custom netting example from the last few weeks, we are presenting a very custom net that was needed to cover a customer koi pond. Koi pond netting is a historically popular production need that Gourock.com supplies, as people want to protect their fish from predatory birds. In most cases the bird deterrent netting is primarily concerned with herons, but also for other predatory birds like hawks and eagles as well. For this particular heron exclusion netting project, our customer had a koi pond with a unique shape that they wanted to cover with a layer of protective mesh. They preferred a large mesh size with a minimized twine thickness, and their selection in this case was #15 X 4″ twisted-knotted nylon netting with 5/16″ polyester rope bordering around the edges. A custom protection netting panel like this was built and ready to ship out within 2 weeks of the order being placed – and we corresponded several times with our client during the quoting and design process in order to get the best netting solution nailed-down for them.
