Custom Kicking Net for Marketing Event and Display Screen Protection
Earlier this summer we worked with a great client that required strong impact netting to be incorporated into a sports marketing event that they were running. The client was a firm that specializes in designing and implementing a variety of products and solutions for engaged marketing activities, and in this case they had a soccer ball shooting feature they were building. The overall idea was that they were simulating a penalty kick situation in which the public could kick a shot on goal, and within the soccer goal area there was a display panel that offered targets to aim and shoot at. The display being used was a video monitor that also was being used as an essential aspect of the advertising and marketing requirements for the kiosk. So in this particular case, the custom netting from Gourock was intended to be spanned tightly within the soccer goal framing structure, and used to block the ball shots from impacting the screen itself (preventing impact damage to it). Our customer’s preferences in this case were to utilize a white colored netting that was strong enough for high-velocity soccer ball impacts, whereas had as large of a mesh as possible in order to minimize its appearance in-front of the video screen. The perfect choice for this project was the 210D/120 X 2″ Braided-Knotless Nylon Netting, which was prepared in a white coloring. The perimeter edges of the netting panel were finished-off with a sewn-on 1-1/2″ webbing border that had #2 brass grommets stamped every 6″. Because the intention was to install the net very tightly within their goal, they ordered the netting panel to the sizing dimensions of 8′ high X 14′ wide. They had their own plans on how the netting was being connected to the structure and being put under tension, but the key aspect was working with a net that was manufactured specifically to their sizing needs and necessary strength capability.
Our commercial marketing customer reported to us that everything worked perfectly and the marketing event was a big success. This soccer goal penalty kick simulator was installed at a Puma Footwear related event, used to specifically advertise “Experience Abu Dhabi” and “Etihad Airways” and actively engage with the public.
